Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Christmas Fishing 2022

Bob and Paul head off for a festive fishing trip to Norway, travelling to Vesteralen and the Lofoten Islands in the Arctic Circle and face a mighty maelstrom. The chain of islands is 1,000 miles north of Oslo and made up of majestic mountains, deep fjords and long, surf-swept beaches, and the pair are on a mission to find a variety of species including cod, halibut and pollock, and the ultimate prize, the hard-fighting coalfish. Along the way Bob surprises Paul with some unique accommodation in the most remote locations they have ever experienced, and the pair enjoy an array of culinary festive delights, including Christmas porridge and traditional Christmas cookies. Later, the duo are joined by Ulrika Jonsson to reminisce about their own very different and personal traditions of Christmas, and Freddie Flintoff presents the hotly contested Employee of the Year and Catch of the Year awards

Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing airs on BBC Two Wales HD at 7:00 PM, Friday 20 December. (Subtitles, repeat, audio description.)
