Kylie, a struggling pastry chef, discovers she has secured a place in the finals of the American Gingerbread Competition. Spotting a chance to raise her profile - and perhaps jumpstart business at her new cafe - she enters, but her chances of winning are quickly slashed when her oven breaks down right before the contest. Determined to remain in the running, she appeals to her old boyfriend Nick, who gave up his education to take over his family pizzeria. He agrees to let her use his kitchen's industrial ovens to craft her gingerbread delicacies, and as they pair work together, a familiar spark rekindles their old flame.
