Seathrún Sardina is from San Diego, California, where he was born and raised, and it was there he started learning Irish and started to run Pop Up Gaeltachts. Seathrún is currently attending Trinity College Dublin, and in his final year of his PhD in computer science, writing his thesis in both English and Irish. He is called 'the American' here in Ireland and 'the Irishman' in California. He now runs the Pop Up Gaeltachts in Ireland
