The bodies of a glamorous senior citizen and a distinguished doctor are found beside a river - and although suspicion for their murders initially falls on poachers, Barnaby suspects a more monetary motive for the attack. However, the case becomes complicated with the discovery that a local restaurateur, who had recently learnt his wife had been having an affair with the male victim, has also met an untimely end.
