The joke-shop owner dreams of the perfect Christmas without her parents and decides to celebrate at home with Stevie, Gary, Clive and Tilly instead. However, a lack of presents, an infuriating encounter at the post office, a run-in with some carol singers and a few arguments in the flat all begin to wear Miranda down - and she may end up back with her mother and father after all.
