Emmerdale is not hanging about in the Caleb and Joe storyline – thank goodness!

We all know Emmerdale has a habit of dragging storylines out for a looooonng time and fans get bored, but it seems that’s not the case with the Caleb and Joe kidney theft storyline. Thank goodness.

Joe and Caleb kidney plot backlash in Emmerdale

The soap has received backlash over the plot which saw Joe have half-uncle Caleb stabbed. He then transported him to a private hospital. Here Dr Crowley worked to save Caleb’s life and transplant one of his kidney’s into Joe.

Kidney Research UK hit out at the storyline over it’s sensationalism, calling it “reckless” and “irresponsible”. Emmerdale responded that Joe would get his comeuppance. But then he flew off to Dubai and we sighed as it seemed like that was going to be a long time coming.

But, hooray, Joe is back next week and Caleb is already suspicious. He sees Joe’s pills, notes that Joe is sticking his nose in the Miligans’ business all of a sudden and decides to investigate. He even quizzes Noah. Caleb then finds out what no one else seems to have paid attention to: Joe is in Noah’s flashbacks of being spiked.

So Caleb has all the clues and it looks like he’s on his way to working out the truth. And that is good news.

We won’t have to wait for the showdown!

It’s good news firstly because it means Emmerdale is not dragging out the reveal for this one. They often make stories go on and on (as do all soaps!) and by the time the good bit comes, we’ve lost interest. It looks like that won’t be the case this time. (Although it still might be!)

The second reason it’s good news is because it promises is be an almighty showdown. We’ve seen Caleb is no stranger to elaborate revenge plots and Joe isn’t someone who will back down – or be taken down – easily.

This clash is set to be gold. And we can’t wait. Bring it on Emmerdale – quickly!
