Georgia Jay has become an Emmerdale fan favourite since joining the show as Steph Miligan last year.
Steph has been struggling with her identity recently after she discovered that her grandad Anthony Fox is actually her father after he abused Ruby when she was a teenager.
Fans have praised Georgia for her portrayal of Steph during this hard-hitting storyline. Here we take a look at her life away from the soap.
How long has Georgia Jay been in Emmerdale?
The character Steph was name checked numerous times on-screen before she was seen. We eventually got to meet Steph Miligan towards the end of last year.
Her first appearance aired on 15 November 2024 and she has appeared as a regular cast member since. Initially, Steph was estranged from her parents, Caleb Miligan and Ruby Fox-Miligan, but the family managed to iron out their differences and repair their relationship.
Speaking about joining the soap, Georgia said: “I am thrilled to be joining the cast of Emmerdale. The cast and crew have all been so welcoming and I’m very excited to see what lies ahead for Steph, given her intriguing backstory.”
On -screen, Steph is currently coming to terms with the fact that her ‘grandad’ Anthony Fox is actually her biological father, after abusing Ruby as a child. Ruby recently suffocated Anthony to his death, with Steph now having an identity crisis as she struggles to process the revelation.
Are Georgia Jay and Beth Cordingly related?
Fans love Steph and Ruby in Emmerdale and have often wondered if the on-screen mother and daughter are related in real life.
The answer is no, it is simply an example of good casting. Although not related, the two women do share a close bond, with Georgia recently taking to Instagram to praise her ‘mum.’
Following Beth’s win at the TV Choice awards, Georgia posted a photo of the two of them along with the words: “Congratulations beautiful @beth_cordingly. Couldn’t ask for a better ‘Mum’ and co-star.”
What else has Georgia Jay been in?
Georgina Philipps, known professionally as Georgia Jay, has a few other roles to her name.
In 2019, she played Diane Vickers in two episodes of Giri/Haji. She then played Clare Favarone in seven episodes of Glow & Darkness in 2021.
Earlier this year fans were delighted when she popped up in an episode of Silent Witness.
Georgia is an identical twin
Georgia is not a frequent poster to social media, but she does occasionally upload snaps giving fans a glimpse into her life.
She appears to spend a lot of time in London, with her Instagram account showcasing numerous pictures of her modelling in the capital.
Georgia also shared recently that she has an identical twin sister, Emma. The actress uploaded several photos of her with her twin, captioning the snaps: “Double Take… #Twinning.”
Fans loved this revelation, with many taking to the comments section to praise the two women. “Omg you are a twin. How beautiful are you both. Gorgeous piccies,” wrote one fan. While another added: “Omg you are a twin?? You are both so beautiful!!”
Georgia’s twin sister is a reflexologist, working over in South Africa but the pair reunited for the recent photoshoot.
Georgia Jay’s passion for photography
As well as acting, Georgia Jay also has a passion for photography.
She works with actors, artists and brands, taking professional photos. She has her own photography Instagram account to showcase her work, under the name of Georgina Clare.
Is Georgia Jay leaving Emmerdale?
The good news for fans is that there is no planned exit for Steph. Steph, along with parents Ruby and Caleb, are an integral part of the soap at the moment and have been at the centre of one of the biggest storylines this year.
With Steph currently going through an identity crisis, there is plenty more to explore with her character as she looks to make peace with her past.
