John Sugden behind Chas collapse, Emmerdale fans convinced – here’s all the evidence
He was in the right place at the right time.
Chas collapsed in Emmerdale this week, and while the blame has been placed at Ella’s feet, fans are convinced John is actually the one responsible.
Chas Dingle has been on medication for a back injury since the fatal limo crash last month and it’s suspected that someone messed with this medication.
Fans have come together to give evidence as to why that person is John Sugden, and not Ella.
John saves Chas in Emmerdale
After becoming convinced that his partner Aaron’s mum didn’t like him, John told Aaron Dingle that they should throw Chas and Liam an engagement party.
Chas and Liam were grateful for the effort that was made, though John was disheartened when he later heard Chas warning Aaron to be careful of him.
The next day, John offered to help Chas at the pub, but she turned him down. Later John opened up to Victoria about his fears that his fiancè’s mum didn’t like him.
Meanwhile, Chas was cleaning the pub when she suddenly took a turn and collapsed. It was then that John and Victoria entered the pub, with Victoria warning him that Chas wanted him to enjoy his day off.
Seeing Chas on the floor, John rushed to help her. At the hospital, Liam and Aaron were grateful for John’s perfect timing.
Chas was told that she had an elevated level of Codeine in her system. Liam was quick to accuse Ella, who’d been spotted hanging around the living area in the pub. But who was really responsible?
Why fans think John was behind Chas’s collapse
John is a qualified paramedic so has medical training. In addition, his timing was impeccable. He also has a desperate need to impress Chas and be her hero. Fans have pointed to these reasons as evidence that John is responsible for Chas’s collapse.
“My money’s on John. Playing the hero to get into her good books,” wrote one fan on Instagram. A second fan added: “I think John has definitely got something to do with Chas taking too much Codeine. Maybe he managed to swap the strength she was taking or something.”
“Haha they can’t possibly think that we don’t know that John did it,” wrote a third fan.
Over on X, a fourth fan said: “Think John been slipping tablet in her drink, he looked suss talking about the overdose.” A fifth fan said: “John definitely up to something. He always seems to be at right place when a character needs to be saved.”
While on Reddit, a fan pointed out that the proof John did it is his insistence to go back to the pub. “John has definely got some weird hero complex thing going on. Swooping in to help/save Aaron, now Chas. Big giveaway – he was so insistent on going back to the pub,” they wrote.
The evidence does add up, but is John really responsible?
