EI split pic: Beth Cordingly and Will Ash on ITV interviews

Emmerdale fans are thrilled as Beth Cordingly and Will Ash are nominated for huge prestigious Tric Awards following their heartbreaking storyline.

Over the past several months, Emmerdale’s Ruby has been on a devastating journey following Anthony’s reappearance in her life. Viewers quickly learned that he had been abusing her when she was young – and was Steph’s biological dad. And when Caleb found out, things took a turn. Ruby eventually murdered Anthony, and a whole lot of villagers are involved in the cover-up.

But one thing that was evident to soap fans was that Beth Cordingly’s performance throughout the entire thing has been absolutely amazing. Many had hoped she would win big during award season. And now it looks like she is getting the recognition she deserves – alongside her talented on-screen husband Will Ash.

Emmerdale Beth Cordingly and Will Ash nominated for TRIC awards

The TRIC awards (Television and Radio Industries Club) first began in 1969, and are known for their high level of prestige. Taking place on June 24, the awards focus on what the public love, they are entirely fan voted – meaning you are in charge of who wins!

Emmerdale took to their Instagram page to share the exciting news that both Beth Cordingly and Will Ash are nominated for Best Soap Actor. And Emmerdale itself is nominated for Soap Of The Year.

While they may be going head-to-head, Emmerdale fans are thrilled that the Milligan’s are getting the nominations that they deserve.

Taking to the comments of the post, one fan wrote: “They have changed Emmerdale. Their characters made it so much better. Hope one of them wins!”

Another added: “These two ARE Emmerdale now. They are amazing.”

A third reflected on how their opinions on Ruby have changed over the course of the storyline. They penned: “I didn’t take to Ruby at first. But WOW she has changed my opinion completely.”

“Nobody is beating Beth. She has been outstanding as Ruby!” a proud fan wrote. Whereas another was backing Will to take the win: “Go Will. He is such an amazing actor!”

The nominations come as Emmerdale was pulled from the BAFTAs nominations.

Emmerdale Ruby and Caleb became fan-favourites

They may not have been in the village as long as others, but Ruby and Caleb have quickly become favourites among the fans.

While initially some were wary of them, their performances throughout Ruby’s abuse storyline have been tremendous. And we hope it’s only the beginning for them.

Away from the hard-hitting storylines, fans also love seeing them as a couple, with some believing they may one of Emmerdale’s best pairings.

As for what the future holds for their characters, it looks like Caleb is about to find himself tied up in Joe Tate’s illness storyline. And with their daughter Steph having just found out the truth, we’re sure there is a lot more to come for the loved family.

It looks like the Miligan’s truly are taking over!
