5 reasons why Steph will now become an Emmerdale favourite
Steph’s just found out the truth about Anthony
Steph Miligan has finally found out the truth about Anthony, and now she’s ready to become an Emmerdale fan favourite.
Her whole world was shattered last night (Thursday, March 13) when Ruby finally told her everything – from Anthony being her biological father to his grisly death.
And now she’s finally got some answers, we reckon Steph’s about to become a firm fan favourite. Here’s why!

1. Strong and determined
Ever since Steph’s grandad Anthony went ‘missing’ (met a bloody death), she’s been a woman on a mission. She wanted justice for her ‘could-do-no-wrong’ grandad (if only she knew) and wasn’t letting anybody get in the way of her finding out the truth.
Steph could smell something fishy in the air where her parents were concerned but she just couldn’t put her finger on it. But, determined to see her mission through to the end, Steph finally got all of the answers she needed (no matter how much Ruby and Caleb tried to deter her.)
A strong and determined female character is something that always gets fans’ backing, and with the recent deaths of Leyla Harding, Amy Barton and Suzy Merton, the village could do with as many as it can get.
A powerful female villager has the power to become a true classic and iconic favourite, and we think that Steph might just have this magic.

2. More depth
Steph’s major focus recently has been to discover what really happened to Anthony. The woman’s exhausted the word ‘grandad’ to the point where we never want to hear the word again. It’s all she talked about!
But, now that she knows what Anthony was really like, Steph can ditch the ‘grandad’ line and start showcasing the many layers to her character.
We’re expecting promising things from Steph – an interesting character with lots more depth to be explored now that the whole Anthony mystery is out in the open.

3. At the heart of the family
It’s no secret that viewers have really gotten behind Caleb and Ruby as a couple. In fact, we’d go as far to say that the Miligans are one of our favourite soap couples.
But, with their son Nicky leaving, they needed someone else to cement them into the soap. And, that’s when Steph came along. Initially unable to restore the peace with her mum, the truth about Anthony may now help Steph and Ruby understand each other and their past better.
A traumatic experience like this could really bond the family, with Steph being the glue that stops Caleb and Ruby from breaking. Everything the couple does is with Steph in mind. And by rooting herself at the centre of her family, Steph’s not only establishing herself in the soap, but is also putting the Miligans right at the top.

4. Ross and Steph
What started off as a fun fling has now become a real hit with us and other Emmerdale viewers. Steph and Ross have the ability to be both fun and filled with banter, whilst also being supportive and able to have serious conversations with each other too.
Ross has actually be a real rock to Steph throughout her time in the village so far, and there’s definitely potential there for the duo. Whether that be romantically or platonically, we don’t mind. But, we’re so ready for more Ross and Steph scenes because they really do vibe!

5. A storyline to showcase Georgia Jay’s talent
Poor Steph had no idea just how big of a secret Caleb and Ruby were keeping. But, last night, everything became clear. Finally.
Steph realised that her ‘grandad’ Anthony had actually sexually abused Ruby. And, Steph was quick to understand what this meant too. Anthony’s her father.
We can imagine the aftermath of this revelation won’t be an easy ride for Steph, with there being multiple directions this storyline could now go in.
We’re intrigued by what’s to come, with last night’s scenes showcasing Georgia Jay’s talent. It’s obvious Georgia’s a real asset to the show already, and we’re expecting more where last night’s scenes came from as the storyline continues.
It won’t be long before Steph’s cemented herself as a fan favourite!
