Lisa Riley reveals grief behind decision not to marry fiancé

Emmerdale star Lisa Riley has revealed the reason behind her decision not to marry her fiancé of almost eleven years. The Mandy Dingle star has been engaged to American musician Al since June 2013, but have yet to marry.
Taking to Instagram in a new post, Lisa revealed why she and Al haven’t married – speaking of a series of tragic losses which made the prospect of marriage feel like an insurmountable difference.

Lisa Riley speaks of decision not to marry fiancé Al
Sharing a selfie with herself and Al, Lisa explained their decision not to marry after eleven years of engagement.
“Today is “World Marriage Day” and don’t get me wrong at all, getting married is lovely, if you want that. But I want to shout so loudly….. you CAN be like Me and Al, here we are, couldn’t love each other more if we tried,” she wrote in the accompanying caption.

She continued: “We have been engaged for years now, together eleven years this coming June. I don’t see how being married is any different to what we have. You can make full commitment to one another without having the conventional wedding day. As for some of us-it’s just not a priority, and also because we have lost (to heaven)so many of our family members now, the day would be exceptionally hard, so for this main reason alone, it makes sense.”
Lisa added: “But for all of you who enjoy marriage I am here for you. Celebrate your love together….i love this so so so so much.”

Mandy tied the knot in Emmerdale last year
Marriage might not be right for Lisa and Al, but not so her character, Mandy. Last year saw Mandy wed long-time love Paddy after the pair resumed their romance.
It wasn’t all smooth sailing, but the pair tied the knot in a typically chaotic Dingle wedding.
