Emmerdale fans praise ‘phenomenal’ performances as Ruby confronts Anthony and Chas works out the truth
The truth is finally out about Anthony
After last night’s episode (January 16), fans have praised ‘phenomenal’ performances by Beth Cordingly, who plays Ruby in Emmerdale.
In scenes that were hard to watch for many, Ruby bravely confronted her evil dad over the sexual abuse she faced as a child. And heartbreakingly revealed that she even tried to tell her mum.
Over the last few months Ruby has been living through hell, as her dad came back into her life. It was then revealed to viewers that Anthony sexually abused her when she was younger.

Ruby in Emmerdale confronted Anthony
Since then, fans have been desperate for Anthony to get his comeuppance, with viewers claiming he may be the most evil character the show has ever had.
In eerie scenes, Anthony stood over his daughter while she was sleeping in the B&B. When Ruby horrifyingly woke up to him looming over her, she decided to confront her dad over what he did to her.
When Anthony tried to manipulate and gaslight her, Ruby stood her ground. And as Anthony told her she had no proof, Ruby gave him a huge shock.
She told him she had a DNA test that proves Steph is not Caleb’s daughter, and it would prove that he was. However, she also told him his disgusting secret is safe because she doesn’t want Steph to ever know the truth.
After the powerful scenes aired, fans immediately took to social media to praise Beth Cordingly’s performance as Ruby in Emmerdale.

Fans praise Beth Cordingly’s portrayal of Ruby
One fan wrote: “Beth Cordingly is a phenomenal talent. ITV are so lucky to have her as Ruby!”
Another praised: “Beth Cordingly is award-worthy on Emmerdale this week. May Ruby remain at the centre of the show forever.”
“Give Beth Cordingly all of the awards. This is a very dark, dark storyline, even for a soap. And she has been amazing,” a fan commented.
A viewer shared how this powerful storyline has changed their opinions on Ruby’s character.
They wrote: “I have to admit that I didn’t take to Ruby at all when she arrived in Emmerdale. But now she is one of my favourite characters. Beth Cordingly is playing the current storyline brilliantly!”
Emmerdale has just released a brand new trailer for next week’s episodes. And it seems the time is up for Anthony, as someone in the village murders him.
