The Crow Girl series 2 ending explained: Victoria Burkeman's final revenge in epic showdown, and if there'll be a series 3
It was a tale of vengeance straight out of Kill Bill
The Crow Girl series 2 put the thrill into thriller, and the ending left us wanting revenge as much as Victoria Burkeman did. She wasn’t your average criminal. Victoria was seeking justice for wrongs done to her and many others. And, honestly, we couldn’t blame her for turning killer.
Just like series 1 of The Crow Girl in 2025, the 2026 follow-up delivered some truly gruesome scenes, as well as gut-wrenching heartbreak. The centre of the story revolved around a paedophile ring, and historic abuse that went back decades.
Victoria Burkeman was a victim – of rape, incest, grooming, and all sorts of other vile acts. And she was determined to seek vengeance on her abusers – David White, Peter Drake, Ben Burkeman, and Carl Lowry, among others. And the viewers were with her every step of the way…
So what happened in The Crow Girl series 2 ending? Here’s everything you need to know, as it was a LOT of keep track of.

Who was Dr Sophia Craven?
In the penultimate episode of The Crow Girl series 2, DCI Jeanette Kilburn learnt that Dr Sophia Craven was actually Victoria Burkeman (something us viewers discovered at the end of series 1). She found out that Victoria had stolen the identity of one of her former therapists called Dr Sophia Craven, and the real Sophia had ALL the answers about Victoria’s mental health.
In fact, Victoria had created the alter of Dr Sophia Craven as her ANP, her “normal” face (more on that below). Of course, Sophia did not know she was an alter. She did not know she was really Victoria Burkeman. But, at the end of episode 5, Victoria decided she no longer needed her alters anymore, and got rid of them. The two identities of Sophia and Victoria became one. Victoria shed the skin of Sophia, and became fully Victoria.
And this was where the final episode began.
What happened in the The Crow Girl series 2 ending?
Episode 6 of The Crow Girl series 2 was entitled Alma Mater, meaning ‘nourishing mother’. Something which Victoria Burkeman had not grown up with. Nor had she been allowed to be a mum to her own daughter Madeleine.
Of course, this whole chain of events, resulting in dozens of dead bodies, all started because of a group of sexual deviants who had abused Victoria as part of a paedophile ring in Bristol. When Victoria returned to her home town in series 1, she discovered that her sister was in fact her daughter. And, when her evil father Ben murdered Madeleine by pushing her down the stairs, Victoria became hell bent on getting revenge on those men and women who had run the paedophile ring. She knew she’d never get a happy ending, so she wanted to destroy those who had ruined her, and potentially hundreds of other young girls and boys.
In the final episode, Jeanette’s career hung in the balance after her affair with Dr Sophia Craven was exposed. Of course, by this point, everybody had discovered that the doctor and Victoria Burkeman were one and the same. Jeanette returned to police HQ determined to solve the case before Verity removed her from the job. And it wasn’t long before Jeanette got to the rotten heart of her investigation. With thanks to Victoria dropping breadcrumbs for her to find.
The final moments of The Crow Girl series 2 saw Victoria Burkeman arrive at the huge house where the disgusting ‘parties’ took place. Once there, she found several vulnerable children from the care home, who were there to be raped. She also found many of her abusers.
Who killed off the paedophile ring?
Victoria was responsible for the deaths of her dad Ben Burkeman, Carl Lowry, and Vincent Dwyer. However, an unknown person blackmailed David White into shooting Peter Drake dead, and then going after Mary Burkeman. Once certain witnesses to the paedophile ring were dead, the string-puller killed David White.
But the sordid ring was much bigger. It had important people placed in all the right places – in law firms, in charge of care homes, and in companies that owned hotels and contracts to house asylum seekers.
In the penultimate episode of The Crow Girl, the real Dr Sophia Craven revealed that Victoria’s abusers may have cultivated an identity or alter as a way of “controlling” Victoria. Her abusers had “curated an alter whose job it was to deny any abuse took place, or to be totally unaware of the abuse”. A game, a trigger word, or a rhyme would be used to bring forward the alter. Turns out it was that weird shopping game Sophie played with David White in series 1.
They kept Victoria, or rather her alter Sophia, around as she “useful”. However, as Victoria arrived at the big house where the sex pests had their sordid parties, it became clear that their sick mind games wouldn’t work on Victoria anymore. Somehow she had broken free. And when facilitator Catherine Stirling tried to control Victoria with the trigger words to turn her back into Sophia – and crucially compliant – it failed. Victoria killed her.
As for all the men and women who were attending one of the parties, Victoria killed them all in one fell swoop. As they bobbed in the pool, she pushed an electric light into the water, electrocuting them instantly. And Piers Stirling was next.
Who was Piers Stirling?
Piers Stirling was discovered to be the leader at the top of the crime ring. He was connected to all the other rapists. Shockingly, he was in charge of the care home in which several young people had gone missing. Firstly, Victoria’s childhood friend Bethan Pryce. Although she died in a tragic accident, no one had reported her missing. Meanwhile, Rachel Fisher had been killed at one of the sex crime parties. She was the only female to be discovered amongst the frozen dead bodies at the farm.
Piers had access to young, vulnerable children and teenagers. And his wife Catherine was complicit in it all. Shudder. In the closing moments of the The Crow Girl series 2, Victoria came face to face with Piers – closely followed by Jeanette who was following her and intent on stopping her do more harm.
Knowing he was cornered, Piers shot at the women, with Jeanette taking a non-fatal bullet to the leg. As Piers taunted Victoria about their past, she held a gun to his face. Jeanette begged her not to kill him, insisting the police needed someone to prosecute. But when Piers smirked about raping Victoria’s daughter Madeleine, Victoria pulled the trigger, shooting him through the head.
This was the end to the sick crime ring, who raped and abused countless young girls. Victoria had got her revenge. However, it meant she would always be a wanted woman and by the police. She would live her life looking over her shoulder, but it was a small price to pay for vengeance.
Who was killing the young men in The Crow Girl?
The same group of sickos, led by Piers Stirling, were behind the cruel fights that resulted in dozens of young men behind killed.
The young boys were all asylum seekers in the UK, and were being paid to take part in fights after being pumped full of drugs to dull the pain. Tragically, they were fights to the death. Once the fights ended, the ‘loser’, or rather the corpse, was taken away. This is where the farmer came in. He froze the bodies, and fed them to his pigs. Cue the disturbing first scene of episode 1.
But Victoria discovered this disgusting practice. She recovered the frozen bodies from the farm, cleaned their feet as a sign of respect, and deposited them somewhere public to be found by the police. And, of course, she choose to leave the dead bodies outside the homes or work places of the men involved. Clever girl.
What happened to Jeanette and Victoria?
In The Crow Girl ending, Jeanette regained consciousness after being shot to find Victoria was gone. Of course, she couldn’t hang around to be arrested. Whether her intentions were noble or not, Victoria was a serial killer, and the police would have to arrest her. Instead she fled. She’d got her revenge.
Of course, it was bittersweet as she had to leave Jeanette who she had genuinely fallen in love with – as both Victoria and Sophia.
At the end of the series, Jeanette’s voiceover told us that she still thought of Victoria. But they couldn’t ever be together. Whether Jeanette kept her job, or split up with her husband was not revealed.
Does Dr Sophia Craven have Dissociative Identity Disorder?
Victoria Burkeman is now living as Dr Sophia Craven, but Sophia is totally unaware of her real identity. In series 2, she was suffering from “black outs” and “memory loss”. However, an MRI showed a perfectly healthy brain scan. In reality, there’s nothing physically wrong with Victoria. Instead, there is something mentally unbalanced.
Dr Sophia Craven, aka Victoria, is suffering from Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), previously known as Multiple Personality Disorder. This is a very real condition, which affects around 1.5% of the global population.
DID is characterised by the presence of two or more distinct personality states (often called “alters”). It is often a reaction to severe childhood trauma, serving as a coping mechanism to detach from overwhelming experiences. Sophia “protects her alters by disengaging”. Crucially, Victoria’s alter is unaware of what happened to her.
Severe memory gaps are a hallmark. People with DID may experience missing time, failing to recall significant personal information, or being unable to remember everyday events when a different personality is in control. Transitions between identities are known as “switching”, which can be triggered by stress, environmental cues, or therapy.
As well as Dr Sophia Craven, another of Victoria’s alters included a non-human crow. Mary Magdalene was another. In the penultimate episode, the real Dr Sophia Craven revealed that Victoria’s abusers may have cultivated an identity or alter as a way of “controlling the victim”. What is an ANP?
In psychology and psychiatry, ANP means Apparently Normal Part. It is a term from the Theory of Structural Dissociation. It describes a part of a person’s personality that handles daily life, like work, school, and social tasks.
In episode 5 of The Crow Girl series 2, Victoria told her “alter” ego Dr Sophia Craven that she didn’t need her anymore. She called her an ANP. Sophia was a “normal” face for Victoria, with a nice house, silk pyjamas, perfectly unmoving hair, good job, and functioning relationships (ish).
But that all changed in the final two episodes. Victoria told Sophia: “I created you.” Victoria had created an ANP on her therapist Dr Sophia Craven, even mimicking her hairstyle and dress sense.
Is there a series 3 of The Crow Girl?
The ending of The Crow Girl series 2 left a few loose ends, but it’s unlikely we’ll get a third series. The thriller is based on a trilogy of books (although the English translation combines all three of the novels into one massive tome). And series 1 and 2 covered the contents of the trilogy.
The Crow Girl on Paramount+ is adapted from the trilogy of novels by Erik Axl Sund – the pen name of Swedish author duo Jerker Eriksson, and Håkan Axlander Sundquist.
Three novels – The Crow Girl, The Hunger Fire and The Pythia’s Instructions – form the internationally best-selling trilogy about Victoria Bergman (changed to Burkeman in the Paramount+ thriller). And the ending of series 2 caught us up with the books.
Paramount+ has not confirmed a series 3 of The Crow Girl. We believe the series has reached its natural conclusion.
