I'm A Celebrity South Africa: Who left camp tonight in first shock elimination

Did you expect that?

Seann Walsh has been booted out of the I’m A Celebrity South Africa camp during the first elimination on the All Stars series.

Harry Redknapp gave the difficult news. It came after being tasked with choosing who has to leave the series because he lost the Bushtucker Trial eating challenge.

It was a shock exit for Seann Walsh after speculation that boxer David Haye could be the first to go due to his behaviour in camp. While he’s competitive, he’s rubbed some campmates the wrong way, including Gemma Collins.

However, Seann Walsh was the first celeb to face elimination in this series of I’m A Celebrity. Fans found out soon after the episode aired tonight, (Thursday, April 16).

How does the elimination work on I’m A Celebrity?

I’m A Celebrity All Stars’ format is slightly different from what viewers might be used to.

Unlike the main show, fans won’t be voting to keep their favourite campmates in the jungle. Nor will they be deciding who faces the dreaded Bushtucker Trials. Instead, the spin-off introduces a new way of doing things. It gives more power into the hands of the celebrities themselves.

Success in those trials plays a key role in determining who stays in the competition, as it all comes down to how well each celebrity performs.

When it comes to eliminations, the campmates are also responsible for choosing who gets sent home, meaning alliances and relationships can have a major impact on the outcome.

Although fans don’t have a say during most of the series, they are brought back into the process for the final. The winner is decided during a live finale broadcast from London. Viewers will be able to vote for their King or Queen of the All Star Jungle.

The final is set to air on Friday, April 24. ITV confirmed it will be shown live and split into two parts. Viewers can tune in from 7.30pm to 9pm to see which of the remaining celebrities comes out on top, bringing the series to a close with the public once again having the final say.

Seann Walsh first celeb to be eliminated from I’m A Celebrity

Tensions ramped up in camp following the Beastly Braai trial. As the Rhinos secured victory, it left the Lions facing a tough consequence.

As the losing team, King Harry was handed the difficult responsibility of deciding which of his fellow campmates would be sent home in the first I’m A Celebrity elimination.

Reflecting on the situation, he admitted it wasn’t entirely unfamiliar territory.

“It’s a bit like being a football manager, really. I did that every Saturday of my life. It’s just a shame someone has got to go…” he said.

Harry later made his way back into the Lions camp. The atmosphere quickly shifted as the others looked for answers.

Ashley was first to question him, asking: “What did you do with Ant & Dec?”

“Unfortunately because we lost, they’ve given me the difficult task of having to choose one of our fantastic campmates here to go home,” he revealed.

He then tells Seann Walsh that he’s the first star to be eliminated from I’m a Celebrity. Except under the pressure of it all, he was called Stuart by Harry Redknapp!

Fans upset over first campmate elimination in I’m A Celebrity

Fans aren’t happy, believing David should have gone home.

One said: “He was the wrong campmate to have left. David should have gone.”

“David needs to go now,” echoed another.

“David needs to leave,” a third wrote.

A fourth penned: “Now look what you’ve done Harry, you could’ve got David out when you had the chance.”

While someone else said: “I don’t blame Beverley getting upset. Very harsh for them to let Seann go without allowing the ones on safari a chance to say goodbye to him.”
