Rating Am I seeing things? How can this possibly be rated lower than a total complete nonsense of a film such as "Transporter 2"? the SEQUEL no less? That is the only thing sickening here Frank and if you can't handle real cinema that's your problem and you have no idea what you're missing. To say this film "revels" in crime and violence is rubbish, there is more violence in Transporter 2 you just don't see any consequences unlike in this film where you do, that's the difference between great films like this and nonsense like that. Classic Scorsese I always feel that this film is slightly over-rated, but it is still very, very good. Liotta plays the central mob villain, based on the real-life Henry Hill, with De Niro excellent as his paranoid associate and Joe Pesci scene-steals as the mad and over-the-top Tommy. I think the film actually suffers from the central character being less of a character than his associates - Liotta has been better in other films - but if that was the truth of the matter...Very good soundtrack also to help tell the tale and date it. Perhaps only "The Sopranos" has had richer mob characters and displayed the rampant paranoia better - over the course of time. ajjam19672:00pm Sun 23 Jan
